If you are worried about the lights becoming too hot there is alternatives you can use to achieve the same effect
1 – outdoor Christmas lights burn much hotter then indoor to help stop ice from forming on wires
so always use indoor lights to help reduce heat
2- the newest model of lights that Canadian tire is selling have types that don’t generate any heat the package should identify which ones if not ask a seasonal associate I find the younger kids have no idea, ask an older employee
3- I have purchased a LED light strip from E-BAY that does very similar things except it is much much safer for children
the light strip is enclosed in a clear rubber and is approx. 20′ long, you can purchase it in any length upto 100′ long
it is controlled with a remote and has over 120+ light configurations and it does not get hot at all because it is tiny LED lights (just search LED light strip) another benefit to the light strip is there is no exposed cords at all so they are quite safe.

always keep in mind to test these first before putting them to use and always supervise your children
I have 2 boys one is 8 years one is 12 months and they move very fast when it comes to mischief

I did this for my 4 month old and she LOVES it! My 5 yr old nephew wanted one too!

In reply to Malena. I didn't have any issue with them getting too hot, I did a test prior and they didn't get hot enough to be noticeable until about two hours of straight use. When the infants used it the lights were never used for that long of a time frame and we did not leave them on unless the box was in use. These are the older style, non-LED Christmas lights and they are not as bright as some of the newer ones that are specifically marketed to be ultra bright so my little one's weren't bothered by the light. The infant pictured is now 2.5 and has never had any issues with her vision.

They look like christmas lights… don’t they get a little hot after a while? I worry about the intensity of the lights for the little eyes of the babys and about the heat of the lights to their hands…
