My advice is to know your policies inside and out and to know what's important to you. For me, I enforce every time for late pickup or late payment because I want to be paid on time and I want to be done working on time. If a parent can't respect these 2 simple things (and pay a late fee if they abuse it), then I don't want them here. I prefer extra $ than terminating a family, but I know some daycare providers will terminate if they are late X amount of times in a year.

I just dealt with a parent upset that I was charging a late payment fee for them paying 10 minutes late. Guess they thought they were above my policies, but then they threatened to pull their kid(s) if I didn't waive it. I shrugged and said, "If that's what you need to do." (had read of other providers saying this when parents threaten to terminate care).
